ViaVersion / ViaBackwards not working?

    Backstory: So my friend here plays on iMac and he prefers playing on 1.12 instead of 1.14 as it let’s him sprint better on 1.12. Me and my friends want to play 1.14 features but have it so my 1.12 friend can join.


    Issue: I have made my server Spigot and added the following plugins - ‘ViaVersion v2.2.3’ and ‘ViaBackwards v2.4.0-SNAPSHOT’. (There are other plugins but they are mcmmo and lagassist). I created my server in 1.14.4 and my friend who is in 1.12.2 still cannot join, even though I have added the 2 plugins in. I had a look in the logs and I saw a message saying “Plugin ViaVersion v2.2.3 does not specify an api-version.“ and “Plugin ViaBackwards v2.4.0-SNAPSHOT does not specify an api-version.“


    Does this have to do anything with it?

    What am I doing wrong?

    How can I make it so my 1.12.2 friend can play 1.14.4?

    According to the ViaVersion plugin page you need ViaBackwards-Abstraction and ViaVersion-Abstraction to allow 1.12 players to play on 1.14. (I'm not sure if this is correct, correct if I'm wrong)

    Unfortunately those two plugins are not directly available on spigotmc, therefore we can't provide them.
