I am having trouble joining a server HELP

I have entered the correct ip yet it doesn't work so I set up my own server and tried it, but it still didn't work so I tried the dynamic ip. It worked! For my server at least, but for the one I want to join they won't give me the dynamic just the regular ip, which won't work. HELP

Probably your DNS doesn't update changes fast enough.
