  • I just want to confirm if it is possible to switch from 1.12.2 Bukket server to a vanilla Minecraft server without deleting my worlds. yes, yes i know the terrain might be messed up but i wanted to change my server to 1.13 with out deleting my worlds :P

You can switch your server safely to 1.13 from our side.

However as you already know minecraft switched the way how it handles worlds.

It may happen that your server performance is much worse than before because minecraft converts the world to the new format while you're playing on the server.

We recommend you to enable the force upgrade mode on https://aternos.org/worlds/ after switching to 1.13 but before starting the server for the first time.

This mode converts the complete world to the new format while your server is starting. This will increase the performance while playing on the server. However if your world is too big it may not complete and you have to go on with the normal converting process.

It may happen that the conversion fails and world data gets lost.

We strongly advise each user who wants to play 1.13 to create a backup on https://aternos.org/backups before switching to the new version.

  • As far as I understands 'converts' here means the general mob behaviour and creatures will be updated to 1.13 BUT not the terrain and buildings in already loaded and existing chunks, correct?

In my worlds some fish appeared and dolphins etc. but no ocean gras and seemingly no monuments or underwater landscape either.

Is there a way for the underwaterlandscape to update or not?

If not, is there a work around? Like downloading a world and deleting individual chunks, then reuploading it for them to force a recreation of the deleted spots?

In 1.13 minecraft changed the way how the world data is stored in the world folder.

Is there a way for the underwaterlandscape to update or not?

New Terrain features will only be available in new generated chunks. So if you want underwater plants you have to delete that chunks and let the server regenerate them.

Mobs are handled in a different way. New mobs will also spawn in old chunks.

I've seen people who do things like this he started the server in version 1.12.2 and I use version 1.11.2 and still I can get into the server but when I ask the owner you use what hosting server he answers: I use the aternos server , when I check again at the ip address it says: SMCGardenLand.aternos.me
