  • Aternos, a great free server platform.

I understand fully that Free does not mean Premium, but heres my problem.

I have an average server that is actually fun, (Spigot, ~8-10 plugins, at most 4 players on) with the NavyCraft mod. Every 10-15 minutes the server either decides to randomly time out or spend around 30 seconds frozen. And, even on a vanilla (no plugin) server with 2-3 people it "Couldn't keep up" and fell over 1000 ticks behind.

Now, this could be fixed by either adding an extra half-gigabyte of ram (Sadly, increasing your server costs, but hey every year technology gets cheaper), upgrading your ram to a better version with the same space but say better speed or port, or finally adding better server optimization.

I love aternos, but with even a basic server constantly falling behind, whats the point in playing?

We recommend to switch to papermc as soon as it is stable.

Yes, in the consumer market. We rely on server hardware which is completely different.

    upgrading your ram

Everytime I read add more Ram, add more ram... Ram is not all.

    finally adding better server optimization.

    That's what we always do.

While lack of RAM is not always the underlying cause of issues, adding RAM to Minecraft is 100% beneficial, as Minecraft is quite possibly the biggest RAM hog ever created.
