Can’t connect to someone else’s server

I’m tryin to join a server that belongs to a friend of mine, but whenever I try to join it tells me to login with a separate Ip. But the thing is whenever I put in the Ip it just doesn’t work at all. I’m on pocket edition on 1.14.1 if that’s any help.
