So recently, the server updated by itself. When we tried to downgrade it, the progress got deleted. Is there any other way to recover it? We haven't made any backups or anything. I hope someone can help me.

If you had a backup you could recover it but as you don't have nothing can be done in this case

Downgrading an existing Minecraft world to an older version is not possible. There is a clear warning about this when you try to switch from 1.18 to 1.17.
