    So basically I got a free minecraft server to play with my friends, but the waiting time to start it up each time, combined with the frequent crashing and lag is too frustrating, so I want to upgrade to a paid package, but keep my world, with all my buildings, and items. Is this possible? If so please let me know sooner rather than later so I can start playing properly.

    Okay then it's just I could have sworn when I made this server I had the option of paying for more space etc. Like I said I don't want to abandon my world so I suppose Ill just have to put up with the lag and crashing.

    I have no idea why it would lag, its just a normal world, I haven't got anything too large or extravagant on it, and it's just vanilla Minecraft.

    1.13+ is still pretty new and has a completely new world format to enable the new water changes. Unfortunately, this new world format isn't really optimized yet and causes lots of performance problems. We've already increased the resources (RAM + CPU) for 1.13 servers, but there are still performance problems that cannot be solved with more resources. We highly recommend keeping playing on 1.12.2 until a better version gets released with performance fixes. However, switching back from 1.13 to 1.12.2 may cause problems, you might have to generate a new world. Please make sure that you have backups of your world if you switch back.
