I'm planning to switch my server from 1.7.10 to 1.8.9. I have 1.7.10 plugins, and I want to ask if there's a way to switch the server version and the plugins to 1.8.9 safely.

Changed the title of the thread from “Server version migration” to “Switch server version”. -
Go to the software page and install 1.8.9.
Then you need to update all plugins to the respective plugin version.
Create a backup before doing anything to be able to return in case of trouble
