Plant Problems

So the very first day, my friends and I have already built a wheat farm for food source and several days have passed and not even a single one has grown. Also the leaves from the trees that doesn't have logs anymore won't decay or disappear. I don't know why is it like this but please do help me find a solution for it. We are playing on 1.14.3, and if it's the mc version's fault then is there anyway to go to an older version without reseting the world?
