Server was working a week ago. Now when I try to connect, it says " failed to connect to the server. disconnected."

I port forwarded the servers port. No change.

When using the aternos IP, I get the error in title. When using dyn IP, it says encrypting for a while, then "internal exception: java.io.IOException: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Help would be appreciated.

I bought minecraft, yeah.

How do I go about making sure I have the same mods on my PC? I never needed to download mods before. Are my versions not the same?

update: I uninstalled forge, reinstalled it, and now I can connect, but My character was reset and lost everything in my inventory.
