Hi! So I made a server on 1.18 but for some reason it's incredibly foggy. You can only see like 5 chunks far. I generated the world with a seed which I testet in singleplayer and there it wasn't foggy. I set my render distance to 32 and it's a vanilla server. Anyone know what I can do?
My server is foggy pls help

Same thing happens to me, hopefully it gets fixed soon!

same for me

You can modify the render distance in the server.properties on the files page

that does not work, I tried to change it to different numbers and it's the same render distance all the time.
-
You have to restart the server afterwards
-
that's what i did every time, it's still not working. I've never had this issue before with aternos servers. Have you tried doing it yourself?
Edit: it seems it's only happening with the 1.18 update. I even tried to do the no tick render distance with paper but i couldn't find the setting.

Yes, that's a new thing introduced in 1.18
-
So will we have to play with 5 chunks since the render distance is not doing anything at all?

optifine for 1.18 is out so you can try installing it
-
But isn't it render distance from server side? Does changing the render from the client affect it?
-
Install paper as your server software if you want to set a higher render distance
-
That's what I did
I don't find the setting for changing the render in paper.yml though

It's not in paper.yml. It's in the server.properties on the Files page

With Optifine you should be able to remove the fog

Yep I changed the render on the server.properties file, but i saw a post that someone said that you could change It on paper.yml and It had less impact on fps

render distance has a big impact on performance and as a free service we only have limited resources we can allocate to your server
