Hi, my friends and I logged back onto our Minecraft server after 1 month of not playing. Half of our buildings were random gone and the terrain reset back to what it originally was. We tried a back up of our server but it was the exact same issue.

use every single back up you have to try and restore your world, the data loss is probably something to do with chunk errors caused by the new world gen in 1.16 or maybe just a problem with aternos but thats unlikely as if it was from aternos it would be a full reset

If the problem persists even after recovering a backup the loss occured before the server got saved / backed up by our system. Therefore it's probably related to the world itself which got corrupted by the server software / actions you did on the server before.
